Thomas Giourgas is an Assistant Professor in Philosophy at Deree – The American College of Greece, where he has taught since 2019. From 2008 to 2015, he taught Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh, specializing in Ethics, Ancient Philosophy, Epistemology, and Political Philosophy. His current research interests focus on Applied Ethics and Philosophy of Education.

He has been a researcher for the project “Aitherion – Experience Philosophy Museum” (in collaboration with NCSR “Demokritos”), which aims to foster technology-driven cultural experiences with regard to ancient Greek philosophy: the Philosophy museum is currently operating through interactive exhibitions, educational programs for schools, talks and special events, and experimental art events through synergies with the Athens Conservatoire. Currently, he is a member of the research project “VISIBLE – making the invisible, visible: placing equity at the center of local climate action” (Application submitted for Horizon Europe). VISIBLE’s main objective is to make vulnerable and marginalized groups visible in climate risk assessments, thereby informing and implementing suitable adaptation solutions that reduce identified vulnerabilities, address biases, and increase community resilience.
