Alkis Kotsonis

Dr. Alkis Kotsonis holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh. His research lies at the intersection of virtue & social epistemology, virtue ethics, ancient Greek philosophy and philosophy of education. His current and past research concentrates on the study of the concept of excellence and the development of new epistemological and educational theories of virtue. Specifically, part of his research focuses on the examination of the notions we include under the concept of virtue and the reasons we ascribe value to it. Another significant part of his research involves the formulation of educational methods for successfully instilling the growth of intellectual, moral, and civic virtues in students and considers potential reasons as to why virtue-based approaches to education may fail to enable students to acquire virtues. Dr. Kotsonis has participated in numerous international conferences and has published more than twenty articles in highly ranked peer-reviewed international journals.
