What You Will Study
The Minor in Cinema Studies invites students to explore the art and practice of filmmaking, combining creative expression with critical insight. Through a carefully designed mix of introductory and advanced courses, students gain both theoretical foundations and hands-on production and post-production experience, with the flexibility to follow a practical track, a theoretical track, or a combination of both.
The Minor in Cinema Studies adds distinctive value to a wide range of majors, recognizing cinema and media as essential forms of cultural expression and communication. Developing media literacy and audiovisual skills constitutes a significant asset for students’ professional careers. For example, Business or Marketing students may benefit from acquiring knowledge in film producing and distribution; Fine and Performing Arts students can hone their skills in narrative or documentary storytelling; and students in the Humanities or Social Sciences may find new, creative ways to approach their disciplines through digital storytelling and nonfiction video production.
