Overview

This intensive workshop brings together actor-training and movement research in a unique collaboration between actress-performer Evelina Arapidis and choreographer Ilias Bageorgos. Drawing on psychophysical theatre methods (Suzuki, Terzopoulos, and Arapidis’ own practice metamorφosis) and contemporary dance techniques (release, contact improvisation, and Yellow Groove), the workshop guides participants into deeper presence, physical expressivity, and creative embodiment. The process culminates in a two-day open presentation based on The Bacchae, showcasing the fusion of text, movement, and ritual energy.

Who is this for?

This workshop is for actors, dancers, performers, and students of theatre and performance who wish to refine their technique, expand their expressive range, and engage with both classical and contemporary methods. No strict prerequisites, but prior training in performance or dance is recommended.

Why attend?

  • Cultivate presence, voice, and movement through integrated psychophysical training
  • Explore improvisation, spontaneity, and authentic stage connection
  • Develop movement awareness, stamina, and new expressive vocabularies
  • Engage with classical text (The Bacchae) through contemporary performance practices
  • Present original collaborative work in a public sharing at the end of the workshop

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Use breath as the driver of voice, movement, and emotional clarity
  • Apply psychophysical and dance-based techniques in rehearsals and performances
  • Break habitual patterns and embrace more authentic physical expression
  • Collaborate creatively in ensemble settings, leading to devised performance outcomes
