Debate: This House would Ban the Research and Production of Moral Enhancement Drugs
Research is currently being carried out to create ‘moral enhancement drugs’, which would alter the levels of chemicals that naturally occur in the brain. Such chemicals have been shown to increase individuals’ tendencies to display empathy, care for others, behave in altruistic ways and resist pressures to act in ways that violate their personal ethical beliefs, such as consuming drugs and alcohol, gambling and internet addictions.
