Dr. Kalliopi-Evangelia Stavroulia holds a Ph.D. in the field of Virtual Reality (VR) from the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts of the Cyprus University of Technology. She holds an MSc in the Design and Development of Computer Games and Interactive Technologies from the Cyprus University of Technology and the University of Cyprus (2016). She also holds a Master of Arts in Education (Education Sciences) with distinction from Roehampton University of London and The Higher School of Pedagogical and Technological Education-ASPETE (2010). Between 2003 and 2007, Kalliopi completed a bachelor’s degree in International and European Studies at Panteion University of Athens. Kalliopi possesses significant experience as a research associate and project manager, having successfully led the implementation of numerous EU-funded projects, including Erasmus+ projects, Horizon 2020, and Norway Grants. She has participated in several workshops, seminars and conferences and her work has been published in journals, edited books and conference proceedings.

Research Projects

  • EU-funded initiatives: Experience in proposal preparation, submission, and implementation of EU projects under Erasmus+, Horizon 2020, Tender, and Norway Grants, over multiple thematic areas including VR-based training, immersive teacher training, cultivation of digital skills, entrepreneurship, circular economy, sustainability, design thinking, entrepreneurial training for disadvantaged groups, and game-based learning.
  • Focus: Integration of Immersive experiences into formal and informal education settings toenhance soft and hard skills.-Design, development, implementation and evaluation of Virtual Reality applications forlearning: Development, integration and impact assessment of VR-based training on the personaland professional development of end-users.
  • Experiential learning in higher education: Application of immersive experiences for skill acquisition within the university context, targeting both students and faculty.
  • Pedagogical frameworks for technology-enhanced learning: Integration and customization of theoretical and applied models to support the use of emerging technologies (VR, AR, games) in classrooms.
  • VR lab development for art and design education: Vision to establish a Virtual Reality Lab at Deree’s Graphic Design Program. Focus: Interdisciplinary research and prototyping at the intersection of design, education, and immersive technology.
  • Cross-disciplinary collaboration models using immersive media: Initiatives promoting partnerships between various fields to explore new modes of learning and storytelling through immersive experiences.
