About the event

The BRIDGE Project Team invites you to the second roundtable of BRIDGE (Building Responsible Institutional Dialogue for Governance and Empowerment), focusing on gender-based violence and the contemporary challenges related to its prevention, protection, and institutional response.

As gender-based violence continues to constitute a major social problem with profound personal, social, and institutional implications, the discussion seeks to foster dialogue and collaboration among civil society organizations, institutional actors, and the academic community. At a time when gender-based violence remains highly prominent in public discourse and continues to raise pressing social and political concerns, the need for effective policies of prevention, protection, and support, as well as stronger cooperation between institutions and civil society organizations, is more important than ever.

The BRIDGE project aims to strengthen the meaningful participation of Civil Society Organizations in public policy-making processes. Through a dynamic digital platform of Open Educational Resources (OER), six thematic roundtables focusing on migration and refugee issues, gender-based violence, sexual identity and equality, child protection, homelessness, and public space and democracy, as well as a series of podcasts, the project creates spaces for exchange and engagement among civil society, public institutions, and the academic community. The project’s outcomes will include concrete policy recommendations and a Best Practices Handbook aimed at strengthening collaboration and democratic participation.

YRIART invites you to this year’s concert, “New Composers | New Soloists Vol. 2”, an evening dedicated to new musical creation, performance, and collaboration between emerging and established musicians.

About the event

Join us on Thursday, June 4, 2026, 15:30, AC Auditorium, for a student presentation on the importance of Conserving Biodiversity to protect the Climate as experienced during a Field Course in Thrace.

Efforts to assess and conserve biodiversity through field work play a vital role in climate protection by safeguarding ecosystems that naturally regulate the Earth’s climate. Field research helps scientists monitor species, habitats, and ecosystem health, enabling the identification of environmental threats such as deforestation, habitat degradation, and species loss. Conserving biodiverse ecosystems supports carbon sequestration, as these ecosystems absorb and store significant amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Healthy ecosystems are also more resilient to climate-related disturbances such as droughts, floods, and wildfires, helping communities adapt to climate change. In addition, biodiversity conservation preserves essential ecological functions, including soil fertility, water regulation, and pollination, which contribute to sustainable livelihoods and food security. Through evidence-based field work and conservation action, biodiversity protection strengthens nature-based climate solutions and supports long-term environmental sustainability for both people and the planet.

The presented experience is within the framework of the Field Course in Environmental Studies, a course that provides opportunities for active learning through field work and in-situ research on different thematic areas of interest to Environmental Studies, which in 2026 was implemented in Thrace, Greece, May 11 – 16. The participating students are presenting the experiences gained on the field, the biodiversity and ecosystem issues, as well as practical, technical, management and social challenges.

About the event

Much of modern educational practice has developed as an adaption to a central challenge: authentic learning by doing and individualized coaching are extraordinarily resource intensive. Large classes, standardized instruction, and scalable delivery models often emerged not because they represent ideal learning conditions, but because they were practical responses to limitations of time, staffing, and cost.

Yet many of the strongest educational traditions, particularly in the arts, continue to emphasize apprenticeship, studio practice, critique, rehearsal, feedback, and one-on-one mentoring as essential elements of meaningful learning. Drawing on John Dewey’s pragmatic philosophy, this session explores how artificial intelligence (AI) may help (and perhaps hinder) educators providing experiential and inquiry-based learning.

Through examples from higher education, learning design, and dance education, we will examine how AI can support learning by doing without reducing education to automation. Instead, AI can function as a practical design instrument that expands opportunities for coaching, experimentation, reflection, and active learning in ways that were previously difficult to scale. Attendees will be invited to analyze and discuss approaches that integrate AI while preserving the relational and creative dimensions of teaching and learning. We plan to share this framework for the first half of the session and then use the rest of our time together for Q&A and open, informal discussion with participants.

About the event

Join us on Monday, June 8, 2026, 15:30, AC Auditorium, for a keynote speech on the Global Climate Crisis and the Mediterranean Marine System: Current status & Future challenges.

In this special event on the occasion of the World Ocean Day celebration, Dr. Velaoras, a physical oceanographer of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR), Institute of Oceanography, will explore how the global climate crisis is reshaping ocean systems, affecting marine biodiversity, coastal communities, weather patterns, and the delicate balance of the Mediterranean ecosystem.

Through scientific insight and real-world observations, the presentation will highlight the current state of the Mediterranean Sea, the impacts already being recorded, and the major environmental challenges expected in the coming decades. The discussion will also emphasize the importance of research, innovation, and collective action in protecting one of the world’s most unique and vulnerable marine regions for future generations.
