Smyrna has a special place in the heart of every Greek with ancestors from Asia Minor. The Greek-American Valantis Stamelos was one of the many that grew up listening to great grandparents talk about their life in one of the most beautiful, rich, and artistic cities of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The stories stayed with him and became an important part of his identity, so much, that the former producer for MTV Networks decided to move to Izmir and build another branch of Crescent Street Films. The documentary feature film "Hello Anatolia" is directed by Stamelos with the executive production of the Greek America Foundation and Gregory Pappas. This is their first Turkey-based project and it follows Stamelos' reconnection with his ancestry while exploring modern day Izmir.
When working on the film, Stamelos lived across from the site of the American Collegiate Institute of Smyrna, the school from which PIERCE derived, and so thought it appropriate that "Hello Anatolia" premiers at PIERCE. ACG welcomed the idea and scheduled the screening during the annual celebration of Founders' Day. Admission is free, yet reserve your seat now as the "journey" is sure to be an interesting and touching one! March 19, 6.30 pm, 7th level Auditorium.

This year's keynote speaker is Professor Henrik Scharfe of Aalborg University, one the 100 most influential people in the world last year, according to Time Magazine. Register now!

Social Responsibility Series
Open to CSR professionals, the inaugural event of ALBA's Social Responsibility Series is scheduled for March 13 and focuses on the "Dissemination of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Information and Activities".
