They say that people who are not afraid to laugh at themselves are usually very secure and interesting and Toli Lerios is no exception to the rule. The highly esteemed software engineer, who is credited with numerous design-centric Facebook initiatives such as Timeline and Newsfeed, is a Senior Software Engineer at Facebook Inc, but on his business card he prefers the title "Code Paniolo", paniolo being a Hawaiian Cowboy! Very soon he will be riding to Greece to participate in "The Journey" organized by TEDx Academy and to give a much anticipated speech on September 13 at ACG. The topic is also characteristic of Tolio's unique blend of humor and intellect: "Portrait of the Scientist as a Middle-Aged Geek: 15 Years of Entrepreneurship in the US". ALBA is collaborating with Ignite Athens for their launch event, dedicated to start-ups, to take place at the Onassis Cultural Center on Thursday, September 20, 11 am to 8 pm. At the same time, a live-streaming hub will be set at Xenias building, downtown. Don't miss the action!

A special evening dedicated to the work and life of neosymbolist poet and literary translator Ceasar Emmanuel will be held on September 28, 8 pm, in the building of the "Attica Tradition" Educational Foundation, 17B Ipitou Street, Plaka. Organized by his niece Olga Emmanuel (DC '04), on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of his birth, the event will include talks on the poet, a performance of his poetry set to music, recitations and more. Impressive Results

An impressive 94% of this year's graduates of PIERCE - The American College of Greece succeeded in gaining admission to Greece's public universities and technical colleges according to figures published by the Ministry of Education on August 27. Of these, 88% achieved admission to AEIs and 12% to TEIs. - 60% were admitted to schools in Attica and 35% to Medical, Engineering and Law schools.

Double the support

ACG has always been an institution sensitive to promising students in need of financial assistance. Nowadays this quality is of major importance and ACG lives up to its values and tradition: For this academic year, over 300,000 Euros has been awarded in need-based scholarships and financial assistance to PIERCE students, representing a 100% increase from last year. As already communicated, an additional 1.7M Euros will be given as financial aid to DEREE students.

Fast Start

Students get a head start on their bachelor degree by taking advantage of The Fall Intensive, an accelerated eight-week term which begins on October 15. This is only one of the programs designed to meet students' needs for a high quality and well-rounded education. As an ACG alumnus, draw from your personal experience and urge prospective students to learn more about the academic programs and the DEREE advantage.

Liquid Network
 

It is an honor for Effie Halivopoulou, Head of DEREE Visual Arts Department, and ACG that her work "Liquid Network" was chosen to participate in the exhibition OPEN in Lido, Venice. This international exhibition of sculptures and installations takes place parallel to the 69th Venice Film Festival and the Architecture Biennale creating a unique cultural platform.

The ACG Fitness program announced attractive discounts in all fitness plans for alumni: For full members the discount reaches 25%, while for the "Pool Specific", "Fitness Specific", and "Tennis Specific" program it is 15%.
