We would like to warmly congratulate our Alumna Christiana Lambrinidis (Pierce 1976) who received the “Dido Sotiriou” award from the Hellenic Authors’ society for her multidimensional contribution in culture and civilization in Greece and abroad, on Thursday November 23, at the Cultural center of the Municipality of Athens.
Ms. Lambrinidis is a playwright, director, scholar of creative writing, educator, essayist, lecturer, editor, and activist.
She received her MFA degree from Brown University (US) and her Bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College (US). She mentors, teaches and organizes writing/thinking and performance projects for social change, with literate and illiterate women, borderland populations in conflict, street kids, immigrants, refugees, professional urban populations, adolescent boys and girls, youth workers, university professors, children from elementary inner city schools, health workers, and university students.
She has been nominated twice for Right to Livelihood Award (alternative Nobel) and she is the only woman in Greece who has been awarded with the Lillian Hellmann and Dashiel Hammett “Human Rights Watch” in New York.
The collective writing performances she stages and directs have been produced in Antwerp, Galway, Athens, Thessaloniki, Komotini (Greece), refugee camps, New York, United Nations.
An inspiring figure of the global community, Christiana Lambrinidis stands as a shining example of a caring citizen, dedicated to bettering this world. We would like to congratulate her once more and wish her to continue inspiring generations to come.
