In late June, the Piraeus Marine Club held its board elections, bringing new members to leadership positions such as Irene S. Daifas, a Deree ’85 alumna who has assumed the position of President. Irene, daughter of the late Stavros Daifas, is also the first woman to be elected President at the Club.
The ‘85 alumna studied Sociology at Deree, while her studies also include Psychology, and Business Management. Until recently, she was at the head of Stavros Daifas Marine Enterprises SA and Silver Lake Shipping Co. SA, whereas nowadays she is CEO of her new company, Stavros Daifas Maritime Corporation SA.
For the last 10 years, she has held the position of Special Secretary of the board of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA).
Impressively, Irene is also the Deputy Mayor for Culture at Piraeus, and is actively involved with many philanthropic causes and organizations.
