Pierce Open House:
Over € 96,500 in Support of Scholarships & Philanthropy

One of the highlights of Pierce school life is the annual Open House, an event organized primarily by the student community. Open House is one of the College’s strongest traditions, and a testimony of our “Non ministrari, sed ministrare.”

Each year, inspired by the school’s motto, students join forces to support their peers in their studies at Pierce, and to help institutions and their fellow human beings in need. Theatrical performances, sports competitions, musical ensembles, food and drinks, and team games are just some of the things that make the Open House such a joyful student celebration!

Last year’s celebrations took place with over 3,000 alumni and friends of the College in attendance, and more than € 54.500 collected in total – including services, gifts, and in-kind donations. The total funds raised in the 2015 Open House provided 26 scholarships for Pierce students, and helped the “Theotokos” and “Theofilos” charities, as well as the Aghia Paraskevi soup kitchen.

This year, thanks to our broader community’s support, ACG opened its doors to welcome over 4,100 visitors, including 750 alumni, and with their valuable contribution we raised €96,535 ($107,772) in cash and in-kind donations.

The 2016 Open House proceeds will support the Pierce Scholarship Fund, as well as the Alexandra Hospital’s wing for abandoned newborns, the PIKPA Penteli Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Aghia Paraskevi soup kitchen.

This was made possible through the hard work of the Pierce Gymnasium and Lyceum Student Councils, and the active support of over 110 companies that took part as donors and sponsors, including over 20 companies with ACG alumni. Together, this year we set a fundraising record for the number of lottery gifts, and the total funds collected.
