Dear fellow alumni,

We are happy to inform you that, on Thursday November 27, the Greek parliament voted in favor of an amendment that opens the way for the recognition of the professional rights of DEREE bachelor’s degrees, based on the College’s New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accreditation. This legislation constitutes a major step towards correcting an injustice against DEREE graduates, thousands of whom have obtained further and/or terminal degrees from prestigious educational institutions in Europe and the US and have had very successful careers in the private sector. Recognizing the professional rights of DEREE degrees was a matter of principle for all, as DEREE undergraduate programs have been accredited by one of the oldest and most prestigious accrediting organizations in the US, the same one that accredits institutions like HARVARD, YALE, MIT, BROWN, etc.

For those of you who are interested in submitting your papers to SAEP, you should be getting the necessary documents from the ACG Student Success Center at the Aghia Paraskevi campus. However, kindly be informed that we need to wait for the new law to be officially published in the Government Gazette (FEK), as well as for any explanatory circular (εγκύκλιος) to be issued by the Μinistry of Education, before any diplomas are submitted for recognition.  Additionally, we will need to check what the precise requirements on the part of SAEP will be from now onwards. Only then, will we be able to properly advise our alumni on the exact papers they will need to submit. This process might take more than two weeks, so please check your email frequently because we will continue to keep you updated with any further news and developments.

For any further clarifications needed, please contact the Office of Public Affairs and the Office of Development & Alumni Relations at extensions 1107 and 1379, or at [email protected]
