PIERCE Founders’ Day was celebrated on February 15-17 with much fanfare at PIERCE – The American College of Greece.

Students had the opportunity to welcome, host and meet youngsters their age from the Uskudar American Academy of Istanbul, the International College of Beirut, the American Collegiate Institute of Smyrna, as well as from Anatolia College in Thessaloniki in order to together honor their common educational heritage with a series of events.

Faculty and staff from the schools chaperoning the 27 students as well as the President of the American College of Bulgaria joined in the events to honor the important work of the American Missionaries of the American Board of Commissioners of Foreign Missions at the end of the 19th century, who saw their vision of creating exceptional educational institutions come true.

“The founders of the College would be very proud if they could see the continuers of this tradition,” President David G. Horner told the students in his welcome speech.

PIERCE students and their families hosted the students and together they visited Greece’s archaeological sites to learn more about Ancient Greece’s culture, while they shared their experiences which proved that they share much more than a common history and tradition; they share academic excellence and a common vision for an education that forms well-rounded personalities and active citizens.
