DEREE – The American College of Greece has embarked on a tour of selected Greek cities – first stop Volos – to present its programs and unique opportunities to potential students, where alumni can also share their college experiences.

The first – very successful – visit was to the city of Volos on January 26 – 28 at the Volos Palace hotel, where 80 prospective students and members of their families, High School principals and teachers assembled to find out more about the unique DEREE – The American College of Greece experience.  Deputy Mayor Dimitris Dervenis was also at hand to welcome DEREE to the city of Volos.

Participants were presented with the results of a recent McKinsey & Co study of university graduates’ employability in eight European countries. They included the gap in perceptions on employability observed between employers, students and teachers and the latest trends in university studies and employment. DEREE admissions officers analyzed how DEREE responds to these concerns with a combination of high-level US- and UK- accredited programs, scholarship and financial assistance opportunities, parallel studies, study abroad and international internship opportunities, as well as a unique mix of facilities and student services.

Katerina Gouma, a DEREE student from Volos, also shared with the audience her experience of studying at the college where she excels.

Successful DEREE alumni who live and work in the region formed a panel and shared ways that their studies helped them in their professional development, as well as highlights of what employers expect from recent graduates. Participating in the alumni panel were:

1) Fotis Betsos (DEREE ’05), Sales, British American Tobacco Hellas SA
