Browser Compatibility

The suggested web browsers for Blackboard Learn use are the Mozilla FirefoxGoogle Chrome and Safari latest versions. You can find installed in all Computer Labs and offices around Campus the Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers which are also supported by the IRM Department. However, Internet Explorer is not recommended for Blackboard Learn use.  For the best results and support, Mozilla Firefox is strongly recommended.


Office Use

The office used and supported by the ACG is the MS Office 2010 and later. All active students of ACG are able to download Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus for personal use FREE OF CHARGE via the Microsoft Student Advantage Program. Access is integrated in your email user account (Visit Settings > Office 365 Settings > Software Install). You can also use the Open Office but it is not supported by the IRM Department.


MS Office Compatibility

You can download and install the MS Office Compatibility Pack to open, save and edit MS Office files created in the newer versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


MSDN Academic Alliance

The College’s Microsoft campus agreement requires that the e-academy Electronic License Management System (ELMS) is made available to all active students of the ACG. ELMS is a web-based management system which easily enables you to download Microsoft software and use it for educational purposes. The use of ELMS for the management and distribution of software in the Academic Alliance Program is made available by Microsoft and e-academy (Microsoft partner) as a student benefit, FREE OF CHARGE.

Acrobat Reader

Many websites use of the Portable Document Format (.pdf) from Adobe. To view these files, you’ll need the Adobe Acrobat Reader.


Java Downloads for All Operating Systems

Java will allow you to collaborate smoothly with your classmates and view all content in a Blackboard Learn course.


Adobe Flash Player

Adobe Flash will assist you in viewing multimedia content.


Media Players

VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVD, Audio CD, VCD, and various streaming protocols.

QuickTime is a multimedia technology created by Apple that plays video, sound and a wide range of file formats. It’s strongly suggested for viewing videos in Blackboard Learn.


File Compression

WinZip is a very popular Zip utility for file compression, encryption, packaging, and data backup.

WinRAR is a tool that will assist you to Compress, Encrypt, Package and Backup your files.
