Overview

During the 4 sessions, the seminar will provide self-care skills for Professionals, inspired by the Emotional Intelligence Theory, in order to support their own selves, their children, their families and their clients.

These E.Q. Self Care skills would include: Empathy, Connection, Effective Communication, Negotiation skills, Self Care skills for Mind, Body and Spirit.

This seminar will also provide theoretical and practical skills in order to:

  • Support Professionals, Parents/Clients in therapy
  • Inspire effective Communication, Collaboration and Negotiation skills
  • Handle stressful human/parenting/couple and family interactions

Who is this course for?

The seminar is addressed to mental health professionals, counselors, family therapists and parents who need to be well informed about E.Q. Skills, in order to be able to support themselves, families and clients.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of the E.Q. Theory, (Dr. Daniel Goleman, Dr. Susan Davis and Dr. Maya Angelou) on self-care. They will learn how to handle stressful situations effectively and efficiently, how to self-balance, how to connect, how to be balanced and happy. They will also learn to prepare treatment/intervention plans to support themselves, family and clients to resolve problems, plan a better future and achieve their goals personally and professionally.

GINA G. THANOPOULOU, ED.M., M.A. HARVARD UNIVERSITY, Counseling and Educational Psychologist Children, Adolescents, Parents, Families, Adults, Female Psychology

Gina G. Thanopoulou, is a Counseling, Psycho-Educational Psychologist. Her fields of expertise are in the areas of Developmental Psychology, Risk and Prevention Psychology, female Psychology from HARVARD UNIVERSITY, Graduate School of Education (HGSE) (1994) and EMERSON College (1992) in Counseling Psychology and Theater education.

She is specialized in the “Moral” Development and Counseling of Children and Adolescents, Adults, Family Therapy and Couple Therapy, as well as, in Counseling and Supporting Students with Learning Differences.

Since her return from the States, in 1995, she maintains her Private Practice as a Counseling / Educational Psychologist to Children, Adolescents, Adults, Parents, Families and Couples.

Additionally Ms. Thanopoulou worked for 16 years (1999 – 2015) as the Director of the Center for Counseling and Learning Services of the International School of Athens, (ISA, former TASIS). Before that she worked for 3 years (1995-1998) as a Counseling Psychologist/Coordinator of the Counseling Center of Pierce – The American College of Greece.

Additionally, Ms. Thanopoulou is a Guest lecturer at the Greek University, Pandeion University (Πάντειο Πανεπιστήμιο, Τομέας Ψυχολογίας), a Guest lecturer at various cultural and Educational Institutions in Greece: ΩΝΑΣΕΙΟ Foundation, ΙΔΡΥΜΑ ΘΕΟΧΑΡAΚΗ, STAVROS NIARCHOS Foundation (SNF) etc.

She is a Columnist and Collaborator at Huffington Post since 2015 and at Thrive.global.gr, where she writes regularly Psychological, Social and Educational articles. She was for 4 years a Scientific Collaborator with her own column at “PSYCHOLOGIES” magazine (Greek edition).

She is a full member of the European, British and Greek Counseling Associations, a “distinguished” member of the Executive Board of the Greek Counseling Association (EEΣ) and a member of the American Psychology Association, since 1996 (APA) and the American Counseling Association (ACA).

She is also a full member of the Harvard Club of Greece (Greek Alumni Association of Harvard University), since 1998 and she was a member for 14 yrs. of the Executive Board as a Vice President and General Secretary of the Club.
