THANOS TRIMIS was born in Athens and graduated from DEREE – The American College of Greece in 1994 with a major in Marketing Management. He earned a Master’s degree in Global Marketing from Emerson College and he returned in Greece for his military service. He started his career in Unilever as a management trainee in 1997. At the end of 2000 he joined the Coca-Cola Company, moving through roles of increasing responsibility in Greece and the Southeast Mediterranean Region. In 2005 he moved to British American Tobacco, working in senior marketing and general management roles in Greece, the UK, the Middle East and lately the Balkans. Thanos is married to Virginia Kavvadia (Deree ’95) and is the father of a son, age 9 and a daughter, age 7. He is passionate with cars and motorsports, he enjoys travelling and good wine and he is interested in history and international relations.

Q.: One of your favorite DEREE memories?

The day I met my wife (to be) in the class of Consumer Behavior

Q.: What do you miss most from your days at DEREE?

The freedom

Q.: What was your favorite spot on campus?

The cafeteria, of course!

Q.: Who was your favorite professor and why?

Nicos Coumetis. Lots of real business cases complementing the theory and a great role model

Q.: Have you kept in touch with any of your classmates?

My wife was my classmate. My best man was my classmate. My best friends were my classmates. Do I need to say more?

Q.: How did DEREE help prepare you for your professional life?

By building up my self-confidence and providing me with the right stimuli in terms of constantly seeking knowledge, leadership and ambition
