Alina Papageorgiou graduated from Deree in 1992. A few months before graduation she was hired at Nestlé as Marketing trainee. After completing her MBA at City University Business School, she returned to Nestlé in 1995, starting her career in Human Resources, as Recruitment and Training Specialist. She spent 5 years in Nestlé’s HR department in People Development roles. She was trusted her first HR Director role at the age of 31 in Diageo, accountable for Greece and Turkey, a position she held for almost 5 years. In 2006 she got the HRD position in AstraZeneca, and in 2008 she was appointed Group HR Director of Vivartia Group, with the responsibility of 5,500 people in 4 business units.
As of July 2015 she is heading the HR Department of Intralot, where she has the responsibility of 5,100 people in 31 countries around the world.
She has also taught at Deree from 1997 to 2010 as part-time instructor.

Pragmatic, young, modern.
Q. What are three enduring values you learned at Deree?
Meritocracy, team work, social responsibility.
Q. Looking back, how did your time at Deree help you become the person you are today?
It gave me exposure to a non-Greek system and mentality.
Q. What do you miss most from your days at Deree?
The freedom we enjoyed as students.
Q. What advice would you give a new Deree student?
To take as much from the extra curriculum activities and life as possible.

Q. What does your work and/or current projects entail?
Human Resources management.
Q. What is the most inspiring aspect of your work?
The possibility to apply fairness to and to motivate people.
Q. What are your plans for the future?
To get as much as I can out of life, for me and my family.
