2022 Pancretan Association of America
The Pancretan Association of America is pleased to announce the
2022 PAA Cretan Scholars Summer Program
at The American College of Greece
Following a two-year disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pancretan Association of America is resuming its support for this Cretan cultural immersion program implemented through The American College of Greece (ACG), Europe’s oldest and largest American institution of higher education.
The PAA Cretan Scholars Summer Program at ACG is an in situ exploration of Cretan heritage and its place in the broader mosaic of Hellenic culture and history.
The Program is addressed to young Americans of Cretan heritage who will spend two weeks, first at The American College of Greece in Athens and then in Crete, delving into issues of Cretan history and society as well as traditional and contemporary Cretan culture. Participants will also learn elements of the Greek language and the Cretan idiom.
The Program involves extensive travel within Crete as well as multiple visits in the broader area of the Greek capital, Athens.
College students will earn one (1) U.S. college credit upon successful completion of the Program
For eligible members of the PAA/PYA, participation is subsidized to a significant extent through generous scholarships by the Pancretan Association of America
