Summer Camp for Children 6-14: Where learning meets fun!

Pierce has a long tradition of excellence in the field of education in Greece, and our annual Summer Camp, organized by the Deree College Athletic Club, is part of this tradition. Throughout the years, the Summer Camp has provided an unparalleled experience for thousands of children, an experience stemming from a rich and balanced athletic, educational, and cultural program, inspired by the ancient Greek dictum “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body”.

The Summer Camp, which runs from June 20 – July 22, aims to develop the athletic and artistic skills of 6 to 14 year-old children, providing a safe and supportive space for them to spend their free time in a creative and engaging way. The children are divided into groups according to their age and knowledge level, and the program is primarily in Greek, but English is also used by the instructors.

Staff & Facilities

The Summer Camp is staffed by professional and highly experienced faculty and coaches, primarily from Pierce and Deree, who have received significant recognition for their skills and knowledge, as well as for their sensitive and caring approach to the children. Camp counselors (a select group of Deree students) assist in the harmonious and safe operation of the program, supervising and accompanying the children throughout the day. Furthermore, the Summer Camp program offers the possibility of bus transportation to and from ACG.

All of the activities take place on the ACG campus, with athletic facilities of international standard and scope, including: a 50-meter Olympic sized pool, 4 indoor basketball courts, 6 tennis courts, 3 dance studios, a 6-lane track, outdoor basketball and volleyball courts, and a FIFA certified synthetic soccer field. The classrooms include PC labs, arts room, a home-economics kitchen-lab, and a theater.

Activities

Morning (9:00 – 12:00)

The sports program in the morning aims to develop the child’s athletic skills. Each child can participate in 2 of the following activities every week: basketball, volleyball, tennis, soccer, swimming, Tae Kwon Do, Kids-Pilates, hip-hop, and track & field.

Recreational Time – Lunch (12:00-13:30)

In addition to the sports instruction, recreational activities such as archery, climbing, board games and ping-pong, are offered. Lunch is served at the Pierce restaurant right after. The menu is selected by the Camp nutritionist and is designed to meet the nutritional needs of the children with special emphasis on the selection of healthy and vitamin-rich foods.

Afternoon (13:30 – 17:00)

The afternoon activities aim to develop children’s proficiency of English and computer skills (basic skills, MS office, robotics, web design) in educational programs of differing aptitude levels. The activities further cultivate children’s artistic and cultural skills through a variety of activities such as sculpture, arts & crafts, comic art, magic art, theater/acting class, singing, and cooking. Each child can participate in 2 of the above-mentioned activities every week.
