Deree Reaches Out Beyond Attica

Over 335 students, parents, educators, alumni, and local officials attended this year’s Deree Visits Your City roadshow events in Patra, Larissa, Heraklion, and Corinth. These city visits are part of an outreach program to introduce Deree and the American model of higher education to people outside of Athens. Since the beginning of this program three years ago, the College has also visited Chalkida, Volos, Corfu, Rhodes, and Thessaloniki.

The roadshows have led to a significant increase in prospective students from all over the country, interested in studying at Deree. With each passing year, there has been noticeable growth in interest among educational organizations – such as private and public high schools, foreign language schools, and frontistiria (after-school tutoring centers) – that wish to acquaint their students with the considerable advantages Deree offers.

The visits are part of a far-reaching effort to diversify the Deree student body and offer more young people the opportunity to receive an education of international caliber. The number of international students at Deree is already growing rapidly, and the roadshows are expected to further diversify the Greek component of the College’s student body, by attracting students from all regions of Greece.

With its expanded modern student residences Deree is able to offer attractive packages of study and accommodation in a safe environment for students who need to relocate for their studies.

Corinth-1
Patras-2

This regional outreach effort has received significant support from Deree alumni residing in the host cities. Prominent Deree alumni such as Ioannis Anastasopoulos in Patras, Ourania Alexiou and Maria Dalamaga in Larissa, Zacharias Kefalogiannis in Heraklion, and Paraskevi Yalou in Corinth offered invaluable help in organizing and promoting the events, while some also spoke to those attending, warmly recounting their experiences at Deree, and how their time at the College changed their lives for the better.

Representatives from the Alba Graduate Business School at The American College of Greece also joined us during the season’s last presentation in Corinth, and are expected to become a regular feature in upcoming visits.

Plans are already being drawn up for next year’s visits, which will also include new destinations! Stay tuned by checking the schedule for the upcoming year here after July 15.
