Winter 2016 Libra Interns on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, DC

On March 10, 2016, the US-based Libra interns travelled to Washington, DC to attend a special event at the White House. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family visited the White House for the first time and were welcomed on the South Lawn by President Barack Obama and the First Lady during the State Arrival Ceremony.

This unique opportunity gave the interns the chance to visit the White House, receive a tour of the White House Visitors Center and explore Washington, DC. They were able to see iconic parts of the White House grounds as well historic monuments in the city including the Lincoln Memorial, the World War II Memorial and the Washington monument.

Since its launch in 2011, the Libra Internship Program has offered 69 Deree students the opportunity to undertake a paid internship with the Libra Group or one of its businesses around the world. The interns gain valuable work experience in various fields including: finance, accounting, marketing, communications, hospitality, social responsibility, non-profit administration, human resources, and IT.
