Nikos Pappas of Panathinaikos Talks Athletics with PIERCE Students

On October 5 Nikos Pappas, basketball player for the Greek National Basketball team and Panathinaikos, visited PIERCE in light of the 2nd Panhellenic Day of School Athletics.

The Department of Physical Education organized a full day of activities ranging from basketball and mountain climbing, to Pilates and a students vs. teachers volleyball match!

The event’s star element was added with the help of alumnus Giannis Kouvopoulos (PIERCE ’01), a sports journalist, who was able to reach out to the Panathinaikos player through his work writing for newspapers and websites.

Mr. Pappas, shared that “it’s great that events like this take place” and spoke to the students about the importance of balancing athletics with schoolwork.
