PIERCE-The American College of Greece’s students have won first place in the national leg of the Global Enterprise Project (GDP) for their innovative company youthelp, and represented the country in the European finals on June 12.

GEP, a collaboration between the European Round Table of Industrialists (ERT) and JA-YE Europe, aims at promoting greater understanding and awareness among young people about globalization, entrepreneurship and the skills they need to succeed in the global economy.

After winning the Panhellenic competition, PIERCE’s Junior Achievement team – creators of youthelp – along with the winning teams from another 12 European countries took part in the European finals June 30, where the team got a special mention for a job well done!

PIERCE’s Junior Achievement team actually designed and founded youthelp for the annual Young Entrepreneurs Association/ Junior Achievement Greece’s competition -10 Best Student Companies – the definitive event promoting youth entrepreneurship, where school students design and implement inspiring business plans, this year hosted at The American College of Greece on June 25 – and where they won the Marketing Award.

Long before the event, however, youthelp.gr has already being recognized as a great student company which is giving back to the community – winning silver at the ninth annual Student Commercial Enterprise Trade Fair competition held at The Mall Athens a few months ago, where it also won the Award for Social Entrepreneurship.

This year, students from PIERCE –The American College of Greece combined entrepreneurship with a humanitarian role, showing solidarity with those in need, creating the virtual youthelp – a nonprofit Social Crowdfunding equity fund, in cooperation with Piraeus Bank, an initiative that aims at gathering financial resources for the charity Association of Friends of Children with Cancer ELPIDA.
