Congratulations to PIERCE-The American College of Greece’s student initiative youthelp, which won silver at the ninth annual Student Commercial Enterprise Trade Fair competition, held at The Mall Athens, where it also won the Award for Social Entrepreneurship.

PIERCE’s Junior Achievement team designed and founded youthelp for the Young Entrepreneurs Association/Junior Achievement Greece’s competition – an event promoting youth entrepreneurship, where school students design and implement innovative business plans. This year, students from PIERCE – the High School of The American College of Greece, combined entrepreneurship with a humanitarian role, showing solidarity with those in need, and are being recognized for their ground-breaking idea with awards – such as at the Student Commercial Enterprise Trade Fair competition.

Youthelp is a virtual, nonprofit Social Crowdfunding equity fund, founded by PIERCE students in cooperation with Piraeus Bank, and aims at gathering financial resources for the Association of Friends of Children with Cancer ELPIDA.

The donation process is simple: those interested can visit http://www.youthelp.gr and donate through the use of a credit card. As with any donation, there is no fixed amount that needs to be donated; the aim is to attract as many donations as possible with the guarantee that all donations will go safely and effectively towards ELPIDA. Through their initiative, students are not only helping support young cancer patients financially, but also raising awareness in order to meet their main objective, which is to increase the number of volunteers, as well as bone marrow donors.

Youthelp’s next goal is to compete in the grand final of the 10 Best Student Companies of 2015, which will take place at DEREE – The American College of Greece on 25 June!
