Browser Compatibility

The suggested web browsers for Blackboard Learn use are the Mozilla FirefoxGoogle Chrome and Safari latest versions. You can find installed in all Computer Labs and offices around Campus the Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers which are also supported by the IRM Department. However, Internet Explorer is not recommended for Blackboard Learn use.  For the best results and support, Mozilla Firefox is strongly recommended.

 

Office Use

The office used and supported by the ACG is the MS Office 2019. All active students of ACG are able to download Microsoft Office 365 Pro Plus for personal use FREE OF CHARGE via the Microsoft Student Advantage Program. Access is integrated into your @acg.edu email user account. You can also use the Open Office but it is not supported by the IRM Department.

You can download Microsoft Office 365 by following the next steps:

  1. You first log in in your @acg.edu email account
  2. You click on the square button
  3. You select the button “Office”, which is in the top-right corner.
  4. Click on the ” Install Office” button
  5. Click on “Other install options”
  6. Lastly, you click on the ” Install Office”

 

Azure Developer Tools for Teaching

It is a Microsoft program to provides students with Microsoft software design, tools, Cloud Computing Access, and learning resources. The program is available for college and K-12 students.

Faculty and students may use the software that is provided through ELMS for non-commercial purposes including instructional use, research and/or design, development, and testing of projects for class assignments, tests, or personal projects.

In order to log in you will need to have your login credentials via @acg.edu email.

Acrobat Reader

Many websites use the Portable Document Format (.pdf) from Adobe. To view these files, you’ll need the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Java Downloads for All Operating Systems

Java will allow you to collaborate smoothly with your classmates and view all content in a Blackboard Learn course.

Media Players

Windows:

VLC is a free and open-source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.

IOS:

QuickTime is a multimedia technology created by Apple that plays video, sound, and a wide range of file formats. It’s strongly suggested for viewing videos in Blackboard Learn.

Video Recording:

Windows:

TechSmith Capture (Formerly Jing) is a lightweight screen capture program. It allows users to record videos or images from their desktop.

IOS:

OBS Studio is a free and open-source software for video recording and live streaming.

Video Editing:

Windows:

HitFilm is a free video editor that has a lot of features that you can use to create the perfect video.

IOS:

iMovie is an easy way to create cinema-quality videos and edit them.

File Compression

WinZip is a very popular Zip utility for file compression, encryption, packaging, and data backup.

WinRAR is a tool that will assist you in compressing, encrypting, packaging, and backing up your files.
