Submitting Work for Publication

All Deree College students are invited to submit articles, essays and short stories to The Observer. Students should send their submissions to: [email protected]

The editors welcome articles and essays on the College or Greece, but also on culture, the world of letters, and entertainment, whether or not they relate to Greece.

Articles should be well-written in an appropriate journalistic format, in English, and a maximum of 800 words long; there is no word limit for essays or short stories. Articles, but not essays, should be supplemented with a photograph for publication. Short stories may be accompanied by a photograph or illustration.

All submissions should be single-spaced and typed in Arial, 12 font. The first line of each paragraph should be indented six spaces from the left margin; there should be no extra spaces between paragraphs, and right margins should not be justified.

Academic Honesty

All commentary and claims made in material submitted for publication should either be guaranteed by the writer to be factual or clearly presented as the opinion or interpretation of the writer or some person quoted by the writer. Students who intentionally falsify information or statements made by other people, present fictional material as representing reality, or plagiarize will be in breach of the College’s standards of academic honesty, and subject to disciplinary action by the College. Academic essays should contain bibliographies in APA or MLA format.
