Vasileios Symeonidis

Vasileios Symeonidis is an applied mathematician and a member of the Deree faculty since 2010. He studied mathematics at the University of Oxford, as a member of St. John’s College (1995-1999), where he earned an MMath. He also holds a ScM and a PhD from Brown University (1999-2005), both from the Division of Applied Mathematics. In 2005-2006 he worked as a post-doctoral associate at Brown and M.I.T.

Prior to joining Deree – The American College of Greece he was an investment analyst for Dolphin Capital Partners and later the head of the Property Development Division of the Church of Greece.

His interests include numerical methods for physical, engineering, and financial applications. His research has been presented in several international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Journal of Computational Physics, Journal of Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics, Physical Review Letters, Journal of Chemical Physics, Bulletin of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and Experiments in Fluids.

He is a full member of the Sigma Xi scientific research society and the president of the Oxford Alumni Society of Greece.
