Maria Ines Oliver joined the Department of English and Modern Languages in 1996. Before that, she had taught at the University of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and the University of Plymouth, UK. At DEREE she has been developing and teaching a variety of basic and intermediate Spanish language classes, including a socio-cultural course “Spain and Latin America Today.” She has actively contributed to every task and project undertaken by the Modern Languages Program. She also has initiated the foundation of the Cultures and Languages Club and has acted as its Advisor ever since.
Professor Oliver is a member of ASPE (Asociación de Profesores de Español en Atenas) and of the virtual space Comunidad TodoELE.
Apart from her teaching and academic interests, she is devoted to supporting and spreading Latin American culture. She organizes cultural events, film showings and various other activities in ASCLAYE, a Latin American and Spanish Association in Athens.
