Lt. Gen. (r) Ioannis Ath. Baltzois

Lt General (ret) Ioannis Ath. Baltzois was born in Arta city, in 1954. He was graduated from the Hellenic Military Academy, in 1976, named second lieutenant of the Armor branch, of the Hellenic Army. He served in all the posts provided by every rank, in commanding and staff positions in Greece and abroad, until his retirement with the rank of Lt. General.

Also served in some specific positions, such as:

  • European Community Observer, Operation Officer in Regional Center of Zenica , Central Bosnia and in Regional Center of Knin, Kraina, of ECMM, during the Bosnian-Herzegovina war (1993-1994).
  • Aide de Camp of ex president of the Hellenic Republic, Kostis Stefanopoulos , (1995-2000).
  • Defense Attaché in the Hellenic Embassy of Tel Aviv, (2000-2003), during the Palestinian Intifada of Al Aqsa.

Education

He has graduated by all the planned Army schools, during his military service, and also:

  • He is a graduate of the Army War College.
  • He is a graduate of the Hellenic National Defense College.
  • He is a graduate of the Tactical Intelligence School, Ft Huachuca, Arizona, US Army, holds a Diploma of Information.
  • He holds a M.Sc. in “Geopolitical Analysis, Geostrategic Synthesis, Defense Studies and International Security” of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
  • He speaks fluently English.
