Mr Plamen Tonchev holds an MA degree in International Relations from the University of Athens, Greece. Since 1998, Plamen has been a Senior Researcher and Head of Asia Unit at the Institute of International Economic Relations (IIER). In addition, he has acted as an EU expert on a number of missions to Asian countries. The list of his publications includes books as well as monographs and articles in academic journals on international political and economic developments. Plamen has given lectures at many universities and think-tanks in Europe and Asia. Mr Tonchev is a founding member of the European Think-tank Network on China (ETNC) and a member of the EU chapter of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP) Committee.
