“Ουράνιο Τόξο” is an original song by Penelope Tzanetaki, and the title of her debut album. The album includes a collection of arrangements of popular Greek tunes and original compositions, that reflect the multitude of the artist’s thoughts and feelings, much like a rainbow, each color a different memory of a different time and place in a soul-searching journey.

Penelope Tzanetaki

Penelope Tzanetaki obtained her Diploma in Harmony of Music in 1995 and her Professional Diploma in Classical Piano (winning the 1st Prize) in 2005. During the same year, she completed her University Studies in Jazz Vocal Performance and Composition under the guidance of the sax player Dr Dimos Dimitriades. Meanwhile, she took master classes of jazz improvisation and repertoire with John Hendricks, Sanii Orasmaa and Sheila Jordan and she studied jazz with Minas Alexiadis. In 2002 she won a Berklee Scholarship and the 3rd Prize at the European Festival “Sarandev” in Dobrich, Bulgaria. In 2005 she took part in the International Association of Schools of Jazz Meeting in Krakow. She is also recipient of the Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead scholarship, awarded by the US government. She has spent time in New York where she attended master classes with the jazz violinist and composer John Blake Jr and performed in several jazz clubs. In Greece she has performed with several ensembles, including Oleg Chaly Hammond Trio, Cool Jazz Quartet and Voyage Jazz Group. She has collaborated with Yorgos Chadjinasios at Half Note Jazz Club in Athens, but also with Dimitris Kalantzis, Takis Paterelis and other jazz musicians in Megaron Mousikis in Athens. She has participated in a number of Summer Festivals, including the Tinos Jazz Festival (Women in Jazz 2011), the Patmos Religious Festival (2011). She has also performed with Mario Frangoulis, Nadia Konstantopoulou as well as with Mimis Plessas in Ianos Stage and Athens College.
