English Language Preparation

Deree College - Academics - Academic Programs and Majors - English Language Preparation

The English Language Preparation program is intended for entering students who do not qualify for EN 1010, TOEFL score 213 and above or the College's EPT for DEREE, 115 and above.

The program offers English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction based on integration of all linguistic skills (reading-writing-listening and speaking) combining general English with academic English and English for business and helps students achieve a level of English competence necessary to study and succeed in the U.S. higher education system.

English Language Preparation (ELP)offers the following courses at both Deree College and The Junior College:

  • EN 1002- a 6-hour non-credit course for students with a TOEFL score of 173-213 or a College EPT score of 80-114.
  • EN 1001- a 9-hour non-credit course for students with a TOEFL score of 155-173 or a College EPT score of 55-79.
  • EN 1000 - a 12 hour per week non-credit course, for students with a TOEFL score below 155 or a College EPT score 35-54.
