Deree College - About - The Downtown CampusesThe Downtown campus was established in 1971 to broaden the College's commitment to business education within the professional community. After two decades of growth, the College opened a five-story building close to the city's business center in September 1993. This facility allows Deree College to meet the needs of students who want to work toward a degree while pursuing their careers. Its library has more than 5,000 volumes, concentrated primarily in the area of business and economics. The Downtown campuses house the Deree College, Downtown Programs, and The Junior College. Classes are offered both at the Xenias Street main facility and at the Sinopis and Evinou branch. The Downtown campuses have brought educational opportunity to the doorstep of Athens' professional workforce. The educational facilities include a new amphitheater, a library and newly equipped computer labs. The Athens metropolitan subway system, in conjunction with the College's free shuttle bus service linking the Downtown campus with the Aghia Paraskevi campus, allows easy commuting between the two campuses, improves access to shared facilities and, in a wider sense, integrates the College communities. As a result, increasing numbers of matriculated students at one campus are electing to take some of their courses at the other campus. In addition, improved transportation has led to a noticeable increase in Downtown campus enrollment. |
