The time for the ultimate alumni celebration has come! The American College of Greece invites alumni and friends of the College to attend a special event in honor of outstanding personalities: The 2014 Alumni Achievement Awards. The Awards ceremony will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014, at 20:00 at the Irene Bailey Open Air Theater. The event, with the message “Supporting Excellence”, serves a dual purpose: to recognize the achievements of ACG alumni and to support the College’s scholarship fund. Mr. Alexis Kostalas, one of the most distinguished Greek presenters, will be the Master of Ceremonies.
During the event, awards will be presented to ten outstanding alumni from PIERCE, DEREE and ALBA who have excelled in entrepreneurship, sciences, arts and social services. Furthermore, one prominent member of the Greek diaspora and one foundation, which actively supports ACG and academia, will be honored. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO, and Ourania Kli-Efraimoglou, President of the Foundation of the Hellenic World, are among the alumni honorees, while the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the Greek American businessman and philanthropist George D. Behrakis will be presented with special awards.
The awards presentation will be followed by A taste of Excellence, featuring renowned chefs Jean-Louis Kapsalas, Dina Nikolaou, Brian and Shanna O’Hea, Alexandros Papandreou, and the patissier Dionysis Alertas. In this special reception, the chefs will create perfect bites of gourmet cuisine, paired with wines from acclaimed Greek winemakers who maintain strong ties with the College. A thousand Mediterranean flavors, a unique savory experience for the guests.
Net proceeds from the event will be added to the ACG Scholarship Fund to offer more students educational opportunities. In 2013-14, more than 1,400 students from PIERCE, DEREE and ALBA received over 3€ million in need-based financial aid and scholarships. Supporting the event means supporting ACG’s mission to provide deserving students unique educational opportunities.
