Merit Scholarship

Intent of the Award

With this program, 20% to 40% tuition reduction is awarded to entering students based on their high school academic performance, proficiency in English, and overall student profile (i.e. letter of recommendation, personal statement, personal interview, extracurricular activities, work experience and other factors).

To continue receiving the award students must:

For bachelor degree-seeking students:

  • achieve a Cumulative Index (CI) of 3.0/4.0 by the end of the second semester of study and maintain this CI thereafter
  • earn passing grade(s) in EAPP courses if they are under the English for Academic Purposes Program
  • register for at least 2 courses (6 credits or more) per continuous semesters
  • complete their studies at Deree within a period of six continuous years
  • be in compliance with all College policies including the Student Conduct Code

For non-degree students:

  • achieve a Cumulative Index (CI) of 3.0/4.0 by the end of the first semester of study and maintain this CI thereafter
  • earn passing grade(s) in EAPP courses if they are under the English for Academic Purposes Program
  • register for at least 2 courses (6 credits or more) per continuous semesters
  • complete their studies at Deree within a period of three continuous years
  • be in compliance with all College policies including the Student Conduct Code

No application procedure is required for the Deree Merit Scholarship.
